Benevolent Treatment of Daughters

Q: The prophet said, "Whoever has three daughters and is patience with them, feeds them, and clothes them they will be a barrier for him from the fire". Will they be a barrier from the fire for the father alone or for the mother as well?
A: This hadeeth was reported by Imam Ahmad and Ibn Majah with a sound chain of narration on the authority of Uqbah ibn Amir who said, "I heard the prophet say, 'whoever has three daughters and is patient with them, feeds them, and clothes them from his wealth they will be a barrier from the fire for him on the day of resurrection.'" This demonstrates the virtue of the benevolent treatment of daughters and taking care of their affairs out of desire for what Allah the Mighty and Majestic possesses of reward as that is a reason to enter paradise and safety from the fire.
It is hoped that whoever supports other women such as sisters and aunts etc. from ones blood relatives in a benevolent manner providing them with food and clothing will obtain the reward which was mentioned by the prophet for the one who supports three daughters keeping in mind that Allah's virtue is vast and His mercy is great. This also goes for the one who supports one or two daughters or others and is kind to them. It is hoped that he too will receive a great reward as the generality of the many verses and ahadeeth dealing with benevolence demonstrate. So if this great virtue is found in benevolence to daughters then the kind treatment of the parents and grandparents is greater and more rewarding due to the great right of the parents and the obligation of being kind and obedient to them. And as the ruling is contingent on action there is no difference between the benevolent one being the father or mother or anyone else for that matter. With Allah is success.

فضل الإحسان إلى البنات
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((من كانت له ثلاث بنات فصبر عليهن وسقاهن وكساهن كن له حجاباً من النار))، هل يكن حجاباً من النار لوالدهم فقط أم معه الأم وعندي ولله الحمد ثلاث بنات؟
هذا الحديث أخرجه الإمام أحمد وابن ماجه بإسناد صحيح عن عقبة بن عامر قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: ((من كان له ثلاث بنات فصبر عليهن وأطعمهن وسقاهن وكساهن من جدته كن له حجاباً من النار يوم القيامة))[1]، وهذا يدل على فضل الإحسان إلى البنات والقيام بشئونهن؛ رغبةً فيما عند الله عز وجل فإن ذلك من أسباب دخول الجنة والسلامة من النار.
ويرجى لمن عال غير البنات من الأخوات والعمات والخالات وغيرهن من ذوي الحاجة فأحسن إليهن وأطعمهن وسقاهن وكساهن أن يحصل له من الأجر مثل ما ذكر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في حق من عال ثلاث بنات، وفضل الله واسع ورحمته عظيمة، وهكذا من عال واحدة أو اثنتين من البنات أو غيرهن فأحسن إليهن يرجى له الأجر العظيم والثواب الجزيل، كما يدل على ذلك عموم الآيات والأحاديث في الإحسان إلى الفقير والمساكين من الأقارب وغيرهم، وإذا كان هذا الفضل في الإحسان إلى البنات فالإحسان إلى الأبوين أو أحدهما أو الأجداد أو الجدات أعظم وأكثر أجراً؛ لعظم حق الوالدين ووجوب برهما والإحسان إليهما، ولا فرق في ذلك بين كون المحسن أباً أو أُمًّا أو غيرهما؛ لأن الحكم مناط بالعمل، والله ولي التوفيق.
